Before Eid prayer, Muslims are required to donate a mandatory amount of food known as zakat-al-Fitr, also spelled Fitrana or Fitra. We have provided a fitra calculator, explained fitrana computation, and provided the fitrana payment amount for 2023 in Saudi Arabia.

Fitra 2023 Calculation
Every Muslim is required to donate the equivalent of one sa’a of grain as Zakat ul Fitr.

3 kilograms or 6.5 pounds equal one sa’a.
According to Abu Sa’id al-Khudri, we once collected money for the Zakat of Fitr.

1 sa’ of cereal, 1 sa’a of barley, 1 sa’a of dates, 1 sa’a of cheese, or 1 sa’a of raisins.
Muslim holy book 985a

Generally speaking, it is advised that food supplies rather than cash be used to pay for Sadqa e Fitr.

According to Abu Sa’id al Khudri, we used to distribute the Zakat of Fitr in three different forms: cheese, dates, and barley. – Sahih Muslim 985d

Some ulemas, however, hold that paying Zakat al-Fitr in cash up to the amount mentioned above is absolutely acceptable. from Arab News

Amount of Fitra in 2023
It is suggested that each Muslim in Saudi Arabia pay SAR 30 as fitra in 2023, which is equal to the highest feasible price of a kilogram of rice, which is SAR 10.

A family of five is required to pay 150 SAR in Zakat al Fitr.
For the year 2023, Saudi Arabia requires a fitrana payment of a minimum of this amount. You should pay more if Allah has given you His benefits.

Who must give Fitrana money?
Every Muslim, regardless of gender, age, health, or other characteristics—whether they are young, elderly, healthy, or in between—must perform the fitra.

Essentially, the senior head of the household is in charge of covering the cost on behalf of his family and dependents.

Who is to be paid, Fitrana or Fitra?

For Muslim families who lack the resources to provide for themselves, their dependents, and family members, the Zakat ul Fitr is intended.

Typically, it is given to people personally, but in certain localities, the neighborhood mosque gathers the food and disperses it on its own.
