Instead of burying a dead baby, a hospital buries a woman’s uterus.

A man who requested anonymity told Al Watan that he took his wife to Al Rafha General Hospital because she was five months pregnant and needed a hysterectomy due to severe bleeding.

The medical team who attended to his wife informed the couple of their decision to remove his wife’s uterus with a dead baby, which was tragic and unbearable news.

He claimed that the medical team had surgically removed the dead baby as well as the uterus and handed him what he believed to be a fetus.

He said the Janaza prayer and then buried it in the cemetery. After three days, he received a call from the hospital informing him that the uterus had been given instead of the unborn baby, and the unborn baby had been transferred to the hospital nursery.

“Why was the fetus transferred to the nursery in the first place, and why were we not informed of this?” he asked.

This infuriated him when the hospital administration ignored his complaint and made no gesture of apologizing for their error, nor did they promise to open an investigation.

The man claimed that after being ignored by hospital administration, he called the Ministry of Health’s emergency number 937 to report the incident. He claimed his wife had never had a major or minor illness prior to the bleeding incident.

The preliminary results revealed that there was a procedural error in delivering the sample after surgery from the hospital’s concerned department. The investigation is still ongoing.
