The holiday for the public, corporate, and nonprofit sectors on February 22nd in honor of Founding Day has just been formally declared by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
According to the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, all employees (both Saudi citizens and resident foreigners) will receive an official holiday on Saudi Founding Day, which will be observed on February 22, 2023, for the second consecutive year.

This follows King Salman bin Abdulaziz of Saudi Arabia’s declaration of February 22 as the country’s founding day last year, which is now observed as a national holiday.

According to Article 128 of the regulations, public sector personnel who are protected by the requirements of the executive regulations for Human Resources in the Civil Service will also have a holiday on Thursday, the day after the Saudi Founding Day, according to a report from the Saudi Press Agency.

In order to reinforce the connection between modern Saudi residents and their national past, the day commemorates Imam Mohammad bin Saud’s foundation of the first Saudi state in the year 1727.

The celebrations for last year’s foundation day showcased the nation’s illustrious past and three centuries of history.
