MOFA now issues stop-over Saudi transit visas for visitors arriving by air.

Starting today, Saudi Arabia has launched the service of issuing transit visas online for all air arrivals in the Kingdom (30th January 2023).

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), in collaboration with the relevant authorities and national airlines, has launched an electronic service for issuing stop-over Saudi transit visas for those arriving by air.

Holders of stop-over transit visas can stay in Saudi Arabia for four days, with the visa valid for three months. The new Saudi transit visa is free and will be issued immediately along with the flight ticket.

This visa enables those passing through the country and those wishing to enter the Kingdom to perform Umrah in Makkah and visit the Prophet’s Mosque in Madina, as well as move around and attend tourism events.

The Ministry made it clear that the service will be available starting today when visitors fly into the country and apply for a transit visa through the Saudi Airlines and Flynas websites. This visa will automatically be forwarded to the Unified National Visa Platform at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where it will be processed, issued, and sent to the traveler by email.

Using the Kingdom’s well-known strategic position as a hub connecting multiple continents, a station that attracts transients, and a global tourist destination, the Ministry stated that the digital transit visa service will assist to accomplishing the aims of the Saudi Vision 2030.

  • The MOFA emphasized that a national plane ticket is required for the free online issuance of a transit visa for the visit, which has a stay limit of four days and a three-month validity.

Beginning on Monday, January 30, 2023, passengers on Saudi Airlines (Saudia) and Flynas flights will be able to electronically obtain a transit visa for a “air” visit for entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for a period of four days with a three-month visa validity, and in accordance with the terms and conditions outlined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Travelers will be able to apply for a transit visa via the official websites of Saudia and Flynas once tickets for those flights are issued. These applications will automatically be forwarded to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ unified national visa platform, which will process and issue the digital visa right away and send it to the intended recipient via email.
