JEDDAH — Lt. Gen. Suleiman Al-Yahya, director general of Passports (Jawazat), said a study is being conducted with relevant authorities to allow Hajj pilgrims to enter Saudi Arabia through all land ports.

On Tuesday, he revealed Saudi Arabia’s readiness to receive any number of Hajj pilgrims during the current year while attending the “Expo Hajj 2023” conference and exhibition in Jeddah.

“The General Directorate of Passports is constantly striving to develop arrival mechanisms, as well as to facilitate electronic services and register biometric characteristics that facilitate knowing the identity of those arriving and expediting their entry,” he said.

The Jawazat chief stated this while speaking at a dialogue session titled “Quality of services for the arrival and reception of the Most Merciful Guests,” which was hosted by Deputy Minister of Hajj Dr. Abdelfattah Mashat.

“Thanks to its strong digital infrastructure, Saudi Arabia is ready to receive any number of pilgrims,” he said, adding that the Kingdom is constantly working to improve the mechanisms for pilgrim arrival.

According to Lt. Gen. Al-Yahya, the “Makkah Route” initiative was launched by the Ministry of Interior in 1438, in collaboration with eight government agencies, with the goal of completing pilgrims’ travel procedures well before their arrival in the Kingdom from their respective countries.

The Jawazat chief stated that the directorate places a high value on the mission of serving Hajj pilgrims and has assigned employees who speak 14 languages to assist pilgrims upon their arrival at all land and sea ports.

Al-Yahya praised the electronic path for domestic pilgrims for its distinguished role in facilitating online procedures.

He also emphasized the significance of electronic data in drawing lessons and estimating Jawazat’s capacity in order to facilitate the movement of pilgrims. The four-day Hajj Expo comes to an end on Thursday.
