Saudi Arabia’s Iqama Medical Examinations: Procedure, Documentation Requirements, and Fees for Newly Arrived Expats.

All recently immigrated foreign nationals who moved to Saudi Arabia for employment or residence must undergo iqama medical examinations in order to obtain their iqama (resident id). According to Saudi Arabian legislation, freshly arrived foreigners are subjected to iqama medical examinations.

Providing for the Kingdom’s National Health Security is the primary goal of the iqama medical examinations in Saudi Arabia. In order to safeguard the Saudi population (citizens and expatriates) from any diseases that recently arrived individuals may bring with them, the government will gather the medical data of expatriates.

The first week after you arrive in Saudi Arabia as an employee or worker for an employer, your employer will invite you to visit one of the certified medical facilities for a series of medical examinations in order to obtain your iqama. Iqama is a temporary residence permit that allows foreigners to live and work in the Kingdom.

The following documentation must be with you when you visit one of the nearby Efada-certified medical facilities.

  • A valid passport.
  • 2 pictures the size of a passport with a white backdrop.
  • Copies of your visa and passport.
  • If you are from Sudan, a certificate of meningitis vaccination. Few medical facilities will offer this service to assess your eligibility and issue the certificate if you don’t have it.
  • Those who come for agricultural occupations must have a certificate from a schistosoma test.
  • The Iqama Medical test costs around 200 riyals.

Pre-medical clearance certificates from the nations on the list below, attested by an authorized hospital or clinic in your region, are required for visitors.

1. Bangladesh

2. Egypt

3. Ethiopia

4. India

5. Indonesia

6. Nepal

7. Pakistan

8. Philippines

9. Sri Lanka

10. Sudan and

11. All African countries.

Your task at the Medical center is finished once you have completed all of the iqama medical testing. Your medical test results will be available online through the Ministry of Health’s Efada service. You can return to the same medical clinic in two to three days for physical reports.

  • Dependent iqamas require the same exams for dependents of foreign workers who are older than 18 years old. Children can check their weight, height, and age, but the rule is not as rigorous for them.
