JEDDAH — The Saudi Cabinet approved a new amendment that doubled the fees for renewing exit and re-entry visas for residents living outside the Kingdom.
The new amendment states that the exit and return visa fee is SR200 for a single trip with a maximum duration of two months, and SR100 for each additional month if the resident is inside the Kingdom, and doubled if the resident is outside the Kingdom.
The fee for multi-entry trips is SR500 for three months and SR200 for each additional month if the resident is within the Kingdom; if the applicant is outside the Kingdom, the fee for the additional month is doubled.
The Cabinet also approved an amendment to the residency law that addresses the renewal of residency permits for foreign workers’ and domestic workers’ companions. According to the amendment, the fee for renewing residency outside the Kingdom will be twice as much as the fee collected within the Kingdom via the Ministry of Interior’s electronic portal.
The Cabinet approved changes to the residency and travel document systems that will allow citizens to obtain a passport in as little as 24 hours.
The Council of Ministers agreed to add a paragraph to Article 12 of the travel documents law that allows for the issuance or renewal of a passport within 24 hours for a fee of SR500, according to amendments published in the official gazette on Friday.According to the amendment, the Ministry of Interior will establish the necessary processes and controls for implementing the new decision.
