The ministry responded to a question about whether the dose is solely for the elderly by stating that those 18 and older can receive the vaccine if they have an autoimmune or immunological condition.

Additionally, the vaccine is advised for anyone who is 18 years of age or older and takes immunosuppressive medications. According to the ministry, in order to assess whether the vaccine is right for their particular health situation, they must speak with their primary care physician.

The ministry stated that regardless of prior infection, those aged 50 and older will receive two doses of the shingles vaccine spaced six months apart in accordance with current recommendations.
