A valid medical insurance policy is required in order to extend a visit visa seven days before its expiration date, according to the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) in Saudi Arabia.

Seven days prior to the validity of the visit visa expiring, according to Jawazat, an individual’s Saudi visit visa may be extended through the host’s account on the Absher platform. However, the visitor must have medical insurance that complies with the service’s specific requirements in order to complete the extension process.

Saudi Jawazat emphasized that according to the guidelines, the total length of a single visit visa extension cannot exceed 180 days (6 months), and that if the extension is delayed after 3 days after the visit visa has expired, a fine will be assessed.

The Saudi Passports Department earlier this week stated that it is not possible to convert a visit visa into a residential visa, or iqama. It is only feasible if both the parents and the children have Saudi Arabian residency permits.

  • The host’s absher account must be clear of traffic infractions in order to renew or extend the single visit visa.
  • The Saudi Jawazat further verified that there is no problem with extending a visit visa through Absher notwithstanding the host’s iqama’s expiration.
