Madinah signs up to the UN-Habitat SDG Cities Global Initiative

In order to join the SDG Cities Global Initiative, the Al-Madinah Region Development Authority and the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat) have signed a statement of intent.

The program intends to support regional and local government institutions’ efforts to enhance their ability to localize the SDGs and share their effective practices and policies with the rest of the world.

The SDG Cities Global Initiative was started by UN-Habitat to give regions and cities a clear path to localize the SDGs by providing planning tools, assisting experts, funds, and promotion incentives. In order to achieve the SDGs, government institutions at the level of regions and cities must participate.

In order to provide enough housing for everyone via collaboration with devoted partners, pertinent stakeholders, and urban effective players at all levels of government and the private sector, UN-Habitat, a UN initiative striving for a better urban future, must be successful.

On the International Institute for Management Development’s (IMD) Smart City Index, Madinah is ranked fourth regionally and 73rd globally, placing it second in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after Riyadh.
