The idea to charge electric vehicles on Madina highways is put into action

The initiative to install electric vehicle charging stations in public parks, major thoroughfares, and important locations has begun implementation by the municipality of the Madina Al-Munawarrah district.

According to Ajel, this is consistent with the declaration made by the Ministry of Energy regarding the preparedness of the country’s electric car charging infrastructure.

• The infrastructure team for e-vehicle charging stations, under the direction of the Ministry of Energy, declared last week that it had finished all legislative, regulatory, and technical aspects to control the market for electric vehicle charging activity. This included defining the rules required for the setup of charging stations and their associated equipment.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the new regulations make the Kingdom’s economy a diversified sustainable economy based on increasing productivity and raising the contribution of the private sector, as well as building new sectors suitable for the future capable of providing quality jobs for citizens. They also give vehicle owners more control by enabling them to easily charge their vehicles while ensuring quality and efficiency.

The infrastructure team collaborated with electrical distribution service providers to organize the mechanism for receiving requests for the delivery of electric current to electric vehicle chargers for the parties wishing to operate or invest in these stations. Applicants for these stations must submit their applications through an online platform called the Electric Vehicle Charging Gateway, which is designated for this purpose by the electrical distribution service provider.

• Once the essential steps for installing these chargers have been completed, the electrical distribution service provider should select a competent contractor from the list to ensure that the chargers are installed in accordance with the mechanism that ensures everyone’s safety.

The project demonstrates the cooperation of the government law to uphold the dependability of the electrical distribution network system, support technology, innovation, and leadership in them, and ensure the effectiveness, safety, and compliance of charging stations with the Saudi Distribution Code. The necessary regulatory requirements, while the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization issued regulations and technical specifications for these chargers, and is working to register, document, and grant conformity cers, while the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing issued the technical requirements for electric vehicle chargers, related to the regulations and licenses for sites and their requirements, and the integration of services and survey
