Returning expats can have their driving license replaced with a new iqama – Saudi Moroor.

According to the General Directorate of Traffic (Moroor) in Saudi Arabia, expatriates who left the Kingdom on a final exit visa and returned with a new visa can apply to replace their old driving licenses.

Expats returning to Saudi Arabia with a new iqama have been encouraged to check with the relevant agencies and apply for a driving license using the new iqama number.

If an expat’s driving permit expires after leaving the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on a final exit visa, they must pay the penalties and fees owed, submit to a medical examination, verify with the traffic department, and apply for a new permit.

Saudi Moroor stated that a visitor to Saudi Arabia with a valid international driving permit or foreign driver’s license may operate a vehicle.

The temporary driving permit is not a license, and it is not possible to drive beyond the Kingdom, the General Directorate of Traffic stated earlier this.

According to the Saudi Arabian Traffic Department, as long as the form and periodic inspection are legal, the owner’s existence of violations does not preclude the transfer of ownership of the vehicle.

The Saudi Moroor also made it clear that, in the event that the car owner lacks a driving license, registering any vehicle requires registering an actual user.

The Saudi Traffic Department noted that the guidelines state that each traffic infraction must be paid separately, and all infractions must be paid before using the Absher site to take any action.
