GCC nationals and Emiratis can now only enter the UAE using their ID cards.

There is no need to show your passport at the entry point because the new procedure is in line with the relaxation of travel restrictions.

Abu Dhabi: Beginning today, April 29, Emirati and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) individuals will be able to enter the UAE using their ID cards instead of their passports.

The National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Port Security announced the new update today in a joint statement. The new update is part of the UAE’s recent initiatives to make travel between GCC states easier.

The General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) announced that the ban on using IDs as a valid document for travel to and from Saudi Arabia had been abolished for both Saudi citizens and GCC citizens.
