Dr. Khaled Al-Nimr, consultant and professor of cardiology and arterial catheterization, stressed the need for a diabetic and cardiac patient to have breakfast immediately if he feels dizzy.

Dr. Al-Nimr said that if the sugar drops below the level of 70 mg/dL, the affected person must break the fast immediately and without delay, even if only one minute remains before the call to prayer.

He referred to an incident that happened to a diabetic and heart patient, who felt dizzy ten minutes before the Maghrib call to prayer, and when he measured his sugar level he found it to be 50 mg/dL, but he did not tell anyone and decided to bear it until the time of the call to prayer.

He added that after that, it happened that the patient fainted at the time of the call to prayer and fell into a diabetic coma, which necessitated his urgent transfer to the hospital, where he was admitted to intensive care.
