On the order and instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Saudi Arabia will extend the validity of Iqamas (resident permits), exit re-entry visas, and visit visas for expatriates in suspended countries to ten days after the deadline of 31st January 2022. The extension is free and automatic, and it will apply to expats and visitors who are in affected countries who are experiencing travel restrictions as a result of the corona pandemic. Read More: The following is a list of Iqama professions that are only available to Saudis.

Jawazat noted, however, that those who had two doses of corona vaccination in Saudi Arabia before leaving the country are exempt from the extension. Read More: Jawazat reveals a system for issuing or renewing an Expat worker’s Iqama.

The General Directorate of Passports stated that work on extending the validity of iqama and exit re-entry is done automatically in collaboration with the National Information Center (NIC), and that no communication with Jawazat departments is required for this extension.

After January 31, 2022, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be responsible for automatically extending the validity of visit visas for visitors from suspended countries who are facing a travel ban and are outside the Kingdom to ten days.

It is important to note that the duration of an exit re-entry visa is valid for 3 months for travel from the date of issuance, unless the duration is specified in months such as 60, 90, or 120 days, in which case the duration is calculated from the date of travel; however, if the duration is specified in days or return before, the calculation is made from the date of issuance.
