Saudi Arabia’s Public Health Authority (Weqaya) indicated that pupils with various ailments and conditions have been exempted from attending in-person classes in primary and kindergarten schools, which are set to begin on January 23rd.
Type 1 diabetes, obesity and underweight with a body mass index percentile value greater than 95 and less than 5, and congenital cardiovascular disorders are among the 11 categories of students who are exempted from attending in-person classes (Septal abnormalities, aortic, stenosis, pulmonary valve stenosis, transposition of the great arteries and impaired heart development).
Aside from chronic lung disease (chronic asthma, cystic fibrosis, and ciliary dyskinesia), chronic kidney disease, neuromuscular dystrophies, anemia (thalassemia and sickle cell anemia), immune-related diseases (acquired immunodeficiency, organ transplants, immunosuppressive therapies, and cancer treatment), and genetic diseases, people with chronic kidney disease, chronic kidney disease, neuromuscular dystrophies, anemia (thalassemia and sickle (down syndrome).
Children with siblings who have these high risk factors caused by such diseases, or children with siblings or parents who are exempt from receiving coronavirus vaccines due to health issues such as hypersensitivity to coronavirus vaccines, are likewise excluded from attending in-person schools.
This is part of the Public Health Authority’s directives regarding the return of students under the age of 12 to their elementary and kindergarten schools.
School canteens and morning assemblies will be suspended, and pupils must report directly to their classes, according to the given guidelines. All class activities that do not comply with physical separation requirements shall be canceled.
Sports events and activities can be held in large, well-ventilated spaces while adhering to the distance rule and without the use of shared sports equipment and instruments. While praying in prayer areas and at places of ablution, social distance must be maintained.
Pupils’ entries and exits must be well-organized, with a physical separation of 1.5 meters between two students, and only those wearing masks will be permitted to enter.
In classrooms, good ventilation must be maintained by opening windows and taking advantage of natural ventilation, which includes the ventilation of air conditioning units.
Inside the classrooms, teachers must wear a medical face cover to ensure that their pronunciation is clear. When removing their face shield, teachers must clean and sanitize it properly.
Outside of the classroom, teachers must wear masks. Sharing and group meals in teacher’s rooms and leisure rooms are not permitted, and water coolers are not permitted.
The distance between student tables should be at least 60 centimeters. Different intervals for students and different times for them to leave schools in order to avoid crowding and mingling.
The instructions also stated that each class should have its own square for gathering. Meal distribution and eating in schools will be permitted.
