Bringing pets into Saudi Arabia is a lengthy and time-consuming process. This is why the majority of expatriates abandon the idea of bringing kids home. We are, however, conveying it to your esteemed guests.

Import Permit

Before moving to Saudi Arabia, you must obtain authorization to bring a pet with you. It means you’ll have to look for it while you’re still in your home country. Your pet will not be allowed to enter Saudi Arabia without this document. This form is available at the Agricultural Directorate in Riyadh (not to be confused with Ministry of Agriculture). Fill in the required information (in Arabic) and submit the form. The rest of the paperwork must be completed in your home country once you have received the Import Permit. If you know someone in Saudi Arabia, you can contact him to complete the application. In this case, a pet moving firm can also help. Veterinary Health Certificate

Within 30 days of traveling to Saudi Arabia, a Veterinary Health Certificate must be issued. Some companies, in fact, need it to be given within 10 days of travel. This certificate must be attested by the competent medical authorities, your country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Saudi Embassy, and/or the Saudi Culture Office. The certificate must state that the pet has been inspected and vaccinated against all known diseases, as well as that it is in good health. To be authenticated by the Saudi Embassy, the certificate must be translated into Arabic.

Vaccination Letter

The Veterinary Health Certificate must be accompanied by a letter from your veterinarian detailing all of your pet’s vaccines. A declaration that the pet is clear of any disease, including rabies, must also be included in the letter. This letter must be addressed to Saudi Arabia’s Director of Customs.

Physical Movement of Pet

If you have above mentioned two documents, you are ready to bring your pet in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia Airlines allows the transfer of pets when placed in cages and be accompanied by a health certificate proving that they are free of disease as well as a certificate that allows their transport within or across the country. Saudi Arabian Airlines also allows transfer of cats and small birds with the passenger on board with limited cage weight allowance of (5 kg).

Customs Declaration Form

Animals are to be collected from Saudi Cargo Depot arrival to Saudi Arabia. Here you need to fill a customs declaration form. This form will be in Arabic and if you don’t know Arabic, it is solely your problem. It is my recommendation to hire a professional pet transporter so that he can help you in getting pet released.
