Dr. Imad Lafi Al-Mohammadi, Assistant Chief Executive Officer for Disease Control at the Saudi Arabian Public Health Authority (Weqaya), said that preliminary studies published around the world show that booster doses of the Corona vaccine protect against severe symptoms and death from the corona virus.
In his remarks at yesterday’s health conference, Al-Mohammadi stated that the first dosage of the Corona vaccine provides 52 percent immunity against the Omicron mutant, the second dose provides 72 percent immunity, and the booster dose provides 88 percent immunity.
He stated that while studies suggest that the Omicron variety has a reduced chance of hospitalization than the Delta, the overall risk associated with Omicron is very significant.
The Saudi Interior Ministry has revealed the penalty for spreading misinformation about the Corona pandemic and not wearing a mask or maintaining a safe distance:
Colonel Talal Shahloub, the Ministry of Interior’s security spokeswoman, warned everyone who works to disseminate rumors and false information regarding the Corona virus epidemic that those who break the law will face a fine of up to 1 million riyals or a year in prison.
In his statements, Shalhoub noted that the punishment for not wearing a mask and not using distancing measures is 1,000 riyals, and that the penalty imposed the prior time is doubled upon repeat, potentially reaching 100,000 riyals.
