Institutional quarantine is not necessary for overseas Umrah pilgrims who received two doses of Corona vaccination approved in Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed that fully vaccinated foreign pilgrims can go directly to Makkah and undertake Umrah ceremonies without the need for institutional quarantine.
The Kingdom’s Hajj and Umrah Ministry also announced that the stay duration for Umrah pilgrims from outside Saudi Arabia has been extended to 30 days.
Foreign pilgrims could stay in Saudi Arabia for up to 30 days before the travel ban imposed after the outbreak of the Corona pandemic. Foreign pilgrims were granted a 10-day stay in the Kingdom when the interim prohibition on Umrah pilgrims was lifted and the service started on November 1, 2020.
All foreign pilgrims aged 18 and up will be granted a permit to visit Saudi Arabia and perform Umrah, according to the Ministry of Health’s restrictions and regulations. Local pilgrims in the Kingdom can perform Umrah if they are 12 years old or older.
According to the Saudi Gazette, the Ministry stated that the only requirement for Umrah pilgrims from countries not subject to a travel ban is vaccination with two doses of Corona vaccine approved in the Kingdom, and that they are no longer required to adhere to the conditions of institutional quarantine.
Three days Institutional Quarantine for Abroad pilgrims who vaccinated with WHO approved vaccines :
Those who received two doses of WHO-approved vaccines, on the other hand, were subjected to a three-day institutional quarantine. Those pilgrims must undergo a PCR test after 48 hours of institutional quarantine and will be permitted to conduct Umrah immediately if the PCR test results are negative.
Cancellation of maximum 50 years limit for Abroad Umrah pilgrims :
The Ministry has also removed the 50-year-old age limit for foreign pilgrims. Previously, the Umrah permission for foreign pilgrims was only issued to those who were 18 years of age or older, up to the age of 50. This cancellation includes permission to pray at the Grand Mosque, Al Rawdah Sharif at the Prophet’s Mosque, and visits to the Prophet’s grave.
