Colonel Talal Abdulmohsen Al-Shalhoub, the security spokesperson for Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Interior, detailed the terms of the penalty for violating the institutional quarantine for visitors from outside the Kingdom.
“The penalty for violating the institutional quarantine for people arriving from overseas includes imprisonment for a period not exceeding 2 years and a fine of 200,000 riyals or both,” he stated during yesterday’s press conference.
If the breach is repeated, the penalty is doubled, and if the violator is a resident expatriate, he will be deported from the Kingdom and his entry into it would be permanently barred when the sentence issued against him is carried out, according to Al-Shalhoub.
The Ministry of Interior said yesterday that between November 21st and November 27th, 2021, a total of 871 violations of corona virus precautionary and preventive measures were documented across the Kingdom.
Makkah region leads with 269 violations, followed by Riyadh region with 217, Madina region with 181, Hail region with 118, Eastern region with 39, Tabuk region with 33, Al Baha region with 8, Asir region with 5, Al-Qassim region with 1, and Jazan, Al Jouf, and Najran regions with 0 violations of precautionary and preventive measures.
Saudi nationals and resident expatriates were reminded by the Ministry of Interior of the need of continuing to adhere to preventive measures and following the instructions provided by the competent authorities in this regard.
