The Ministry Announces to Postpone Covid-19 Vaccination Until Further Notice

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health has announced the expansion of administering the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine resulting in the postponing of all dates for the second dose. The second dose will be rescheduled later. This decision is taken to cover a large segment of society with the first dose.

All second dose appointments to be postponed

The Ministry clarified that it will postpone all second dose appointments starting from Sunday, April 11, 2021, and the resumption of the second dose will be rescheduled later.

Why is this decision taken?

According to the Ministry of Health, the announcement was made due to the shortage and stuttering international supplies of vaccines as the manufacturers are facing challenges in fulfilling the contracted quantities.

Aim of the Ministry

The Ministry added that it aims to ensure that the largest number of people are covered with the first dose of the vaccine, especially the high-risk groups, because of its impact in reducing severe cases and protect public health

The Ministry of Health made this decision so that a larger amount of people can take the corona vaccine during its first dose. The second dose of the vaccine will be postponed until further notice.
