Hundreds of passengers stranded at Dubai International Airport since Tuesday has been sent back to their home countries, Authorities issued new guidelines for visit, tourist visa holders coming to Dubai from 5 countries said the travel agents and Airlines.
As per the latest instructions, visit and tourist visa holders from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan must hold a valid round trip ticket for entry into Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport.
Passengers not complying with the regulations will be sent back to the same destinations from where they came on the expenses of the airlines, informed the airlines.
Indian airlines like Air India Express, Indigo issued travel updates for Indian passengers travelling to Dubai on tourist or visit visa with the aim of getting ‘on arrival visa’.
Air India Express said that all tourist and visit visa holders of Dubai must hold a valid return ticket to be accepted for travel, While IndiGo said such passengers will be denied entry and shall be deported at their own cost and expenses in the absence of a valid return ticket.
Travel agents said that they have also been informed by that these passengers should have a minimum of 2.000 Dirhams with them. However, the airlines had not made any announcement about this as of now
Indian and Pakistani missions in Dubai confirmed that hundreds of passengers from their countries denied entry for non compliance of regulations of visit and tourist visas, were sent back while a few dozens made to cleared for their entry
Pakistani Consulate in Dubai said, Out of 561 stranded Pakistani passengers, the consulate managed the entry of 23 passengers into the UAE, while 386 have been sent back and 152 are still at the airport. Their repatriation is being arranged on various flights. – Of around 200 Indian passengers who are stranded at the airport, 120 were flown back home, while 30 were cleared for entry, and the others will be sent back tonight reports Gulf news.
Airline sources had earlier revealed that there were hundreds of passengers of different nationalities, mainly the labor sending Asian and African countries, were denied entry.
Travelers did not have a valid hotel reservation or a relative’s reference, nor did they have a return ticket booking are the requirements by the UAE immigration, Most of the passengers that are compliant with the visa rules arrive at Dubai airport face no delays upon entry.
