King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals revealed the success of a Saudi research team in devising a promising method for producing an effective vaccine against the Coronavirus, confirming that this method prevents the virus from entering the target cells. The leader of the research team from the university, Professor Sahl Abdel-Jawad, explained that the new method uses nanoparticles to inhibit the Corona virus and block it before it enters human cells. He stressed that the use of nanoparticles is a promising option for the prevention or treatment of corona, as it is characterized by its ability to simulate antibodies, which makes it able to attract and swallow corona viruses before merging with the human enzyme.
He added that the team reached these results after conducting simulations and modeling at the molecular level of the merger of the Corona virus with the human enzyme (hACE2) with or without the nanoparticle, indicating that they will conduct laboratory interaction studies, and after that they will conduct studies on animal bodies, in order to lay the foundations for clinical trials related to the method.
