Makkah: The Makkah Municipality has warned that owners will be fined 1,000 riyals for washing their vehicles on roads and in public places. The Makkah Municipality is conducting stringent inspections to end the trend of foreign workers washing vehicles on roads and in public places without working under sponsors. Washing vehicles on roads and in public places is causing environmental and visual pollution and road damage.
Makkah Municipality Undersecretary Engineer Abdullah Al-Sayedi said raids were being carried out to catch illegal foreign workers washing cars in public parks, roads and in front of houses. Owners of washing vehicles in such places will be fined up to 1000 riyals. Washing cars in public places and on the roads can lead to wastage of water, damage to the infrastructure and detriment to the public appearance.
Efforts in collaboration with the municipality and the concerned security departments have reduced such negative trends. The mayor of Makkah has instructed to protect natural resources, including water. Washing vehicles on roads and in public places can cause waterlogging, potholes on the roads and the proliferation of mosquitoes and insects. Saudi citizens and foreigners should cooperate with the municipality to eliminate such negative tendencies that are annoying to the city and approach the service centers licensed by the municipality to wash vehicles. Engineer Abdullah al-Zaidi said that if vehicles are noticed washing in public places, everyone should call the Unified Complaints Center Center number 940.
