The Director of Localization of the Commercial Sector at the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, Abdul Salam Al-Tuwaijri, said that the ministry is studying a new plan to accelerate the localization of groceries, in cooperation with a committee of several government agencies.

He added, during a seminar organized by the Asharqia Chamber, that this step comes within the plan aimed at settling the retail sector in the Kingdom and combating the commercial concealment, referring to the recent decision to localize 70% of the nine activities.

He indicated that the third phase is coming to complete the process of resettlement of the sector, indicating that the ministerial decision on resettlement gives establishments a grace period ranging between 3 and 4 months, stressing that many establishments have expressed their desire to attract national cadres and learn about the qualification mechanisms.

It is worth noting that the recently implemented settlement decision includes 9 activities, including outlets selling coffee, tea, honey, sugar, spices, water and drinks, selling fruits, vegetables, dates, plants and agricultural materials, selling books and stationery tools, student services, gifts and luxuries, and children’s games.
