Saudi Arabia started using Smart Helmets to monitor People’s Temperatures

Saudi Arabia has started using smart helmets with thermal radiation to scan the near by individuals in order to identify people with high body temperatures in public areas.

The Eastern region Municipality has already implemented the use of these helmets to stop the spread of corona virus in public places and shopping malls.

The mayor of the Eastern Province, Eng. Fahad Bin Mohammed Al-Jubeir, said that the helmets use thermal radiation to measure temperatures from a distance of five meters. It can scan up to 200 people a minute, triggering an alert if a fever is detected, he added.

Municipality’s employees have been trained to use them to provide the highest levels of prevention and health safety along with the procedures followed in commercial centers.  Eng. Al-Jubeir added that if they monitor any person suffering from a rise in temperature, they will follow approved procedures and notify health authorities to complete the necessary measured.
