Sunnah & Benefits of Drinking Water that Every Muslim Should Follow

Water is a basic human need. Every person drinks it as it is a source of living. Islam is a great religion it rewards its follower even for drinking water. To earn rewards for drinking water one should drink it according to Sunnah of Prophet which has abundant rewards & benefits for health also.

Take a clean glass, fill it water and pour according to your requirements and donot waste water at all.

Recite ‘Bismillah’. ‘Bismillah hirrahma nirrahim’ should be recited before drinking water. We Muslims recite this verse before every work we start. It is nothing but taking the name of Allah and praising him for His bounty.

Drink water with right hand. Always drink water with right hand as it is advised by Noble Prophet (PBUH). Using right hand to daily activities has many benefits and mentioned in many of the narrations.

Sit down and drink water. There is a strict warning from Apostle of Allah to drink water while sitting. It is very unhealthy to drink while standing and it is better to vomit water drank while standing. It is the Sunnah of Prophet to drink water while sitting.

Drink water taking three breathing pauses. It is narrated in Hadith that water should be drunk while taking three breathing pauses as it is the Sunnah of Prophet (PBUH).

Don’t exhale or blow into the glass while drinking. It is advised not to exhale or blow into the glass while drinking the water.

Recite ‘Ahamdulillah’ after drinking water. Always recite ‘alhamdulillah’ after drinking the water as a token of gratitude towards Allah who gave you water to drink.
