Hundreds and Thousands of Muslim come to Saudi Arabia every year to perform Umrah and Hajj. The kingdom is the center of the Islamic religion with the most precious and prestigious Holy Kaba’ah in Makkah and the Masjid-e-Nabwi in Madinah. People wish to visit these holy places their whole lives. They save penny by penny to reach these places.

However, far away from their houses in a different country, the city with a strenuous exercise to perform the pilgrims often become a victim of health issues. To facilitate these pilgrims under the Saudi Vision 2030, which aims at making Hajj and Umrah easy, safe and possible actions, the ministry has introduced a compulsion for all the pilgrims. What is that compulsion?

Making Medical Insurance a compulsory act for all pilgrims

Different pilgrims that came from different regions, cities and countries of the world are now required for the compulsory medical insurance by the kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Ministry for Hajj and Umrah announced that the Saudi Arabia will provide medical insurance to facilitate the pilgrims coming from every niche and corner of the world.


What will be provided to the pilgrims under the Insurance?

According to the relevant Saudi Authorities representative, the Government has signed an agreement with the insurance companies to facilitate the pilgrims and provide better health facilities. The insurance will cover the cost of the following items,

  1. Healthcare.
  2. Ambulance service in case of traffic accidents.
  3. Ambulance service for natural calamities.
  4. Loss of luggage.
  5. Delay in flights, etc.

What will be the duration of this insurance?

The medical insurance of the pilgrim will be for 30 days, starting from the day the pilgrim came to the kingdom till the day he/ she exits.


The fee of medical insurance to be taken by pilgrims

Previously, the Umrah fee was SR 300/- which was collected by pilgrims of 49 countries. Now an additional SR 110/- will be taken for medical insurance.
